Temporary Tattoos

Getting a tattoo is a huge decision that will stay with you for the rest of your life. You might not be 100% sure that you want to make that kind of commitment. You only have one chance to get the design right before your stuck with it, so you it would be stupid to rush into the artist's chair. You could compare it going on a blind date and marrying the person right after, except a divorce with a tattoo requires surgery and leaves a scar.

The option to get a temporary tattoo has been around far awhile. Baby boomers may remember and have some fond memories of a little temporary tattoo set called Cockamamies, that came in boxes of Cracker Jacks. You would just get the back of the transfer paper wet which would loosen the design, and stick it to your skin. You probably felt like a tough guy with your new tattoo.

The temporary tattoo has been constantly evolving over the years, just like permanent tattoos, into a more sophisticated product containing many more options. The evolution of temporary tattooing was helped along by the film industry because movies containing heavily tattooed characters such as bikers or gangsters took so long to shoot. Makeup crews would put on the tattoos and they would just melt off so they took some time to improve temporary tattoos.

Dr. Samuel Zuckerman, a chemist, is the father of temporary body art. He invented the first authentic looking, skin friendly tattoo for the 1981 film of the same name. The film drew alot of attention overnight by makeup and tattoo artists.

Years after the movie, Zuckerman and his son started to mass market the product, and today the Temptu company caters to everyone whether the average individual or the rich and famous. They can also provide body glitter, stick on jewels, and airbrush tattoos. Products made by the Temptu company have been used on some of the most famous fashion runways as well as in feature films like The Mummy Returns, X Men 2, and Rent. They have also been used for the HBO hit show The Sopranos.

Don't feel like a fake for getting a temporary tattoo. You have one because you aren't sure that you want to get it, or you want to use it as an extension of your cosmetic lineup. No one will know unless you tell them that it is a fake so just go out and have fun.
